Developing the HPC Workforce of the Future
SESSION: Developing the HPC Workforce of the Future
EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather
TIME: 5:30PM - 7:00PM
SESSION LEADER(S):Roscoe C. Giles, Barbara Chapman, Scott Lathrop
ROOM:393-94-95
ABSTRACT:
Experts in High Performance Computing, Simulation, and Data Analytics are essential for scientific research. A recent ASCAC report to the Office of Science at the Department of Energy analyzed the workforce challenges facing the DOE national labs in this area. Action beyond the scope of a single agency, program, or institution is needed. This BOF invites broader community discussion on how to create a larger, more diverse, high quality HPC workforce. A brief summary of the recent DOE report will precede an open discussion among key stakeholders and interested parties from the SC community on the path forward.
Session Leader Details:
Roscoe C. Giles (Primary Session Leader) - Boston University
Barbara Chapman (Secondary Session Leader) - University of Houston
