PGAS- The Partitioned Global Address Space Programming Model

SESSION: PGAS- The Partitioned Global Address Space Programming Model

EVENT TYPE: Birds of a Feather

TIME: 12:15PM - 1:15PM

SESSION LEADER(S):Tarek El-Ghazawi, Lauren L. Smith

ROOM:273

ABSTRACT:

The partitioned global address space (PGAS) programming model strikes a balance between the ease of programming due to its global address model and efficiency due to locality awareness. In addition to scalable systems, PGAS has become even more widely acceptable as latency matters with non-uniform cache and memory access in manycore chips. There are many active efforts for specific PGAS paradigms such as Chapel, UPC and X10. The PGAS BoF at SC14 will bring researchers and practitioners from many of those efforts for cross-fertilization of new ideas, and to address common issues of concern and common infrastructures.
