SC14 Workshop Demos: Innovating the Network for Data-Intensive Science
Posted on Monday, May 26, 2014
The SC conference series has traditionally been home to cutting-edge developments in high-performance networking, alongside those in high-performance computing, storage, and analytics. This year SCinet and the SC14 Technical Program solicited proposals from research and industry participants that displayed new or innovative demonstrations in network testbeds, emerging network hardware, protocols, and advanced network intensive scientific applications. Results and findings of selected SC14 demonstrations will be included in a special half-day SC14 Workshop titled, “Innovating the Network for Data Intensive Science” taking place on Sunday, November 16, 2014. (Please note the workshop day has changed from Friday, November 21, 2014 to Sunday, November 16, 2014.)
Topics for this year's demos and experiments include (but are not limited to):
- Optical networking
- Software-defined networking
- Network architecture
- Switching and routing
- Network monitoring and management, and network control
- Security/encryption and resilience
- Scheduling and reservation
- Complexity and optimization
- Open clouds and storage area networks
An SC14 Technical Program Committee and peer-review panel will review each proposal and work with accepted participants to develop, customize, and integrate the demonstration with SCinet, SC14’s network infrastructure.
